The Society of Sin Does Shakespeare Burlesque for Fringe Fest
This year The Society of Sin will be a part of New Orleans Fringe Fest at Mag's. We will be performing our Shakespeare burlesque play, A Midsummer Night's Wet Dream, which enjoyed a successful opening this summer at The Shadowbox. The show is an adaptation of the classic comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream revised to be set in Louisiana in the 1930s and with significant more stripteases and sequins than the original. In our version, Lysander and Hermia are a lesbian couple, the actor's guild is trying to draw in the crowds by turning its shows into burlesque plays, and the changeling baby is...not what it seems.
The show is completely accessible to those who are totally unfamiliar with Shakespeare, but fans of the Bard's work will especially enjoy the show. Cast includes: Persé Fanny as Nick Bottom, Vincent Gallant as Puck, Samwise Windstorm as Oberon/Egeus, Xena Zeit-Geist as Titania/Peter Quince, Cherry Bombshell as Hermia/Flute, Ember Scorpius as Peaseblossom/Snug, Melody Thick as Helena, Amen Five as Demetrius, and Nymphadora as Lysander.
Shows will be Friday November 21, Saturday November 22, and Sunday November 23 at 9p at Mag's 940 Elysian Fields. Tickets will be available online and at the door. For more information, visit the New Orleans Fringe Fest website. Drinks will be available at the venue.
