Batman burlesque play transforms Harrah’s New Orleans into Gotham City
NEW ORLEANS, Nov. 8, 2018 – New Orleans-based burlesque and variety troupe The Society of Sin will bring together Gotham’s caped crusaders and criminal masterminds for one night of scintillating striptease and live singing.
With action ripped from the pages of the iconic comic book series, “Arkham ASSylum: A Batman Burlesque Play” will run on Sunday, Nov. 11, at The Theater at Harrah's Casino New Orleans (8 Canal St., New Orleans, LA). The play will hold two showings—one at 7 p.m. (doors at 6:30 p.m.) and the other at 11 p.m. (doors at 10:30 p.m.).
Audiences will join The Riddler on a tour of Arkham in the midst of a security breach. Determined to outsmart Batman and Robin, the evil genius aims to deduce who is behind a mysterious gas being leaked into the asylum. The show will also feature appearances from other classic super villains, including Poison Ivy, Catwoman, The Mad Hatter, Scarecrow, Mr. Freeze, The Penguin, Harley Quinn and The Joker.
Xena Zeit-Geist, the troupe’s founder and artistic director, explained that the play will always hold a special place in her heart since the show’s original run marked her debut as a burlesque playwright and as a producer.
“The overwhelmingly positive response from fans as well as the dedication and pride amongst cast members made me feel like I was where I belonged,” added Zeit-Geist. “When I first wrote the script in 2014, I never imagined that it would grow into the tremendous, over-the-top, rhinestone-encrusted production that it is today, but I am so happy that it has.”
“Arkham ASSylum” will feature live burlesque performances from Poseidon Davenport, Ash Wednesday, Lefty Lucy, Expecta Patrone, Xena Zeit-Geist, Lune Noirr, Ariana Amour, Clay Mazing, Dick Jones and Phoenix Rose.
